The cloth is not printed on. It is folded, stripped and stitched until it holds.
The collection
Turn it in your hand
Every piece is built in 3D before a single length of cloth is cut. This is the oyster column as it exists in the software, ruffle cascade and all. Grab it and turn it.
Graduate Fashion Week
The full collection walked in London, presented through Graduate Fashion Foundation.
Norwich University of the Arts
BA Fashion, First Class Honours. Every piece cut, manipulated and finished in the university atelier.
The Norfolk coast
The editorial was shot against chalk cliffs and red rock, which is where the rust came from.

Nine looks walked. None of them was a size.
Before you ask
Can I buy a piece from the collection
The original nine are one-offs, cut for the show. Any of them can be remade to your measurements, which usually takes eight to twelve weeks depending on how much manipulation the piece carries. The oyster column is the slowest. Every ruffle on it is worked by hand.
What is the manipulation, exactly
Cloth is folded, gathered, cut into strips and stitched back down until it holds a shape on its own, without boning or interfacing. It is done on the cloth itself rather than added on top, which is why the ruffles fall the way they do rather than standing off the body.
Can you make something that is not in the collection
Yes, and that is usually more interesting. Bring a photograph, a sketch or just a description of the occasion. I will not copy another designer's work line for line, but using it as a reference point is exactly how most commissions start.
What happens at the toile fitting
The whole garment is made first in calico, a plain cotton that costs almost nothing, and you put it on. It will look wrong. That is the point. It gets pinned, chalked and cut into on you until the shape is right, then taken apart and used as the pattern.
Do you work outside Norwich
Finished pieces ship anywhere. Fittings do not travel well, and a manipulated piece needs at least two in person. If you are further away, say so at the enquiry stage and I will be straight with you about whether it can work.
Are you available for freelance or studio work
Yes. Pattern cutting, fabric manipulation, 3D garment development in CLO, sampling and studio assistance. Get in touch with what you are working on.
